At Myli, we believe libraries are for sharing more than just books. Our Library of Things collection is designed to give you access to useful items you might only need occasionally. By borrowing instead of buying, you can try before you buy, save money, reduce waste, and make more sustainable choices. It's a way for our communities to share resources, cut down on clutter, and enjoy things that might otherwise only be used once or twice.

The collection is also about learning, fun, and creativity. You'll find kits and items that help you explore new hobbies, bring people together, and spark curiosity. From cooking and crafting, to games, science, and beyond.

Borrowing Conditions

Borrowing from the Library of Things is easy, but a little different from borrowing books. The following conditions ensure items stay complete and are ready for the next person to enjoy.

Borrowing & Returning

  • Items can only be borrowed and returned during staffed library hours
  • Items must be returned to the same library they were borrowed from
  • After-hours chutes cannot be used for returns
  • Staff need to check the kit on return to ensure all parts are included

Eligibility & Responsibility

  • You must be 18 or over to borrow Library of Things items
  • Borrowers are responsible for the safe use of items
  • Borrowers are responsible for safe transport of items to and from the library
  • When making a booking, you must agree to the Library of Things Terms & Conditions

Loan Period & Reservations

  • Loan periods are fixed (no extensions or renewals), with a booking period between 3-10 days chosen at the time of booking
  • Reserved items must be collected on the booking date, or the booking will be cancelled
  • There is a borrowing limit of 3 items at one time

Care of Items

  • Items must be returned clean and in good condition
  • Read all instructions prior to use
  • Damaged or missing parts may result in charges and/or borrowing restrictions

Late Returns

  • Items returned late will result in a 3-month suspension from borrowing from the Library of Things collection
